IRFSA: Islamic Resources Foundation of South Africa

The Islamic Resource Foundation of South Africa (IRFSA) runs the Ihata shelter for battered and abused women with children in Cape Town, South Africa. "Ihata" means to encircle, or protect. The organization receives no corporate, faith-based organisation or government funding, and graciously survives on public donations, selling organically grown herbs and vegetables, a small on-site creche and from the sale of bric-a-brac and second hand clothing from their community shop. In spite of this, they manage to provide a wide range of services for the women and children they serve.

The courageous sisters running the shelter deserve our support and encouragement. Find out more about their work at their website irfsa.com
