What We Do
It takes strong families to build a strong community,
and the community is not strong when oppression goes unchecked in our homes. Project
Sakinah's strategy is centered on the principle that we must work together as a
community to strengthen our families, protect our loved ones, and prevent violence.
Our national network of professionals and community action teams educate and build
the skills needed for peaceful marriages, effective parenting, and the wise guidance
of our Youth.
This means we organize programs about healthy parenting and healthy marriages, as
well as pre-marital programs and programs about the need for Muslim mentors as well
as Muslim foster and adoptive parents.
This means that we tackle tough issues many in our community don’t like to talk
- violence in our families – between spouses, among siblings, perpetrated on our children
- sexual molestation, forced marriage
- youth who are neglected or abused, youth falling prey to alcohol, drugs, gangs,
pornography, suicide, and human trafficking
Ours is a grassroots movement to change people's behavior. We work to gather advocates,
