Project Sakinah Research Program

The Project Sakinah Research Program is intended to help answer three sets of questions:

  1. What is the extent of the problem of Domestic Violence in the Muslim Community, and what are the Muslims doing to address it?
  2. What do we as a society know about dealing with the issue of Domestic Violence in the Muslim Community, and what are the areas where we most urgently need more research?
  3. How is the issue of Domestic Violence in Muslim families portrayed in the Media, and what does this portrayal tell us about how both the issue and Muslims are viewed?
Our initial effort in research was to collaborate with Peaceful Families Project in a 2011 online survey concerning the Attitudes of Muslim Men and Women towards Domestic Violence. Results of the survey may be found here.
